Eleventh Doctor Chosen?

Nov. 25th, 2008 @ 12:55 am

Rumour mill is saying Paterson Joseph has been offered the role of the Eleventh Doctor, and has accepted. I met Rich Johnston at Dublin Comic Con and he said his sources were solid (but then, he would, wouldn't he?).

So it must be true!

I thought he was fantastic in Neverwhere, so if it's true, I won't be complaining.

How cool was that?

There may be spoilers. )

Must watch again.

I've got to get this off my chest...

Okay, I can't resist sharing my thoughts... Technically these aren't spoilers as I have no inside information, but you have been warned. )

Argh! How many days till Saturday?

Forest of Shadows

Wow.Best Doctor Who story ever.

Of course, I always regret saying these things after I've watched them a couple of times.

I wonder how long before Professor River Song becomes a regular character?

And is she any relation of River Tam?

Stephen Moffet is clearly a genius and the series is in good hands.

» Doctor Who Christmas Special

Dec. 26th, 2007 @ 11:23 am

...was rather good I thought. Lots of new characters, but managing to keep them all believable. I love the idea of everyone abandoning London because it's Jinxed at Christmas!

I won't say any more for fear of spoilers.

If you haven't seen it, get on Bittorrent and download it (but then buy it when the DVD comes out - I wouldn't advocate piracy).

» An evening of culture, literature and history - with a Doctor Who twist!

Jul. 15th, 2007 @ 10:33 pm

I would like to propose an evening of Culture, Literature and History - with a Doctor Who connection. On Thursday 26th July in the Globe Theatre, London, Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost will be playing. This is, of course, the play the Doctor and Martha went to see when they took their trip back in time. Now, we could go as gentry, and pay for expensive seats. But wouldn't it be more fun to go as peasants and stand in the pit - which has the added advantage of only costing a fiver.

I'd love to get a big group going. Or even a small group.

Edit: Took out something that got copied by mistake... Please post here if you're interested!

Details here:

And schedule here:

Shame they're not doing the sequel the next day...

Various random musings about tonight's episode... )

Now, I really can't wait for the Christmas special, and for the next series.

By the way, did anyone see the Doctor Who special of The Weakest Link?

» Paul Cornell is my hero

Jun. 4th, 2007 @ 07:00 pm

What an amazing episode of Doctor Who. I might post something longer later, but for now I'd rather not include anything that requires a cut tag, so I'll write in code...

Martha... wow... run! wow... Soldiers! wow... Headmaster... wow... smart kid... wow... scary girl... wow... ba-da-da-da-da-da-da! wow! run... wow... hide... wow... boom! boom! boom! wow... John Smith... wow... a minute past the hour... go right! wow... ahhh.

Hope that doesn't give too much away. Everything nicely tied up in the end. Brilliant episode.

In other news, I couldn't seem to get into LJ over the weekend. I gather there was some malarky with accounts being suspended, but I couldn't even load the front page. Odd.

In my humble opinion, that was the best episode so far this year. I can't wait for part 2. If the second part lives up to the first, it could very well be the best episode of the new series. I anticipate Hugo nominations.

I must get hold of the Paul Cornell novel of the same name!

Right then. Just coming down from another Doctor Who high. So I thought I'd jot down a few thoughts that I'll probably completly change my mind about when I've seen it again.

Better stick it behind here in case I spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet... )

Ooh, I really liked this episode. I like this whole season, in fact, but this was one really good episode. I've been meaning to write about them all, but I've been too lazy.

There could be some minor spoilers in here, so it might be a good idea to watch the episode first. )
